Solar Interconnect Panel

The solar interconnect panel was built next, which provided the critical connection from the panels installed a little while ago. The panel provides electrical safety isolation for the 150VDC potential coming from the roof.

The roof panels are wired in a 4S2P arrangement. Each panel with an open circuit voltage of about 42 volts. Inside this panel is a set of surge supressor shunts, and PV rated fuses. The amperage for each string is still about 15 A maximum. The cabling after intake from the roof is THHN stranded wiring, which is then connected to the solar charge controller.
Note the size of the output cables, which are much thicker due to the reduced voltage and therefore higher amperage.
